It’s impossible to be in control of our emotions all the time. After all, we’re only human, and we react to things in different ways as they happen, whether we want to or not.
Take a moment to think of scents that make you happy. It could be the smell of your favorite food, your significant other’s perfume, or the scent of opening up a new binder.
This is a poem I wrote about anxiety and how things that feel catastrophic now aren’t always worth the time and stress we tend to waste on them.
School is starting again which can be extremely anxiety-inducing for many teenagers. I know it is for me at least especially since it is my senior year and I have to apply to colleges.
We are human, not perfect. To see that and believe it, there is a great exercise you can try.
As a new school year begins, things are already hectic. Where are my classes? Will my books be expensive? Are my teachers understanding? The questions race by faster than I can handle, and just because the school year is starting doesn’t mean that my other problems just go away. So I sat down and cried.
With the splendor of summer coming to an end and the stress of the school year following shortly behind, it’s important we maintain our sanity and stability through these busy transitions. One way we can help keep our anxiety levels low during this time is by creating and consistently maintaining self-care routines before our schedules get crazy. Then, when things do start to pick up, our self-care is already built into our daily lives.
For some, the quiet can be peaceful. There are no distractions and a place for them to focus on their thoughts without any outside intrusions. For others however, the quiet can be deafening and can cause them to feel incredibly anxious.
Everyone has their own ways of coping with anxiety and panic attacks, but for me, it can be very helpful to listen to a calm, comforting song. So, I decided to write my own song to do this! I talked with a few friends who have experienced panic attacks in their own unique ways, and wrote lyrics that can hopefully resonate with and help other people too ?
